NCSoft Announces New MMO Shooter That Feels Over a Decade Old

NCSoft unveils Cinder City, an upcoming MMO tactical shooter set in a dystopian future, drawing from nostalgic gaming styles.

NCSoft has announced Cinder City, a new MMO tactical shooter that seems to draw from the nostalgia of earlier games.

Details are limited, with only a website and a trailer released so far. The game is said to take place in a dystopian setting centered around the megacity of Seoul, likely resembling titles like The Division and Warframe.

However, with its initial trailer promoting NVIDIA GeForce’s capabilities, the game gives off strong hints of contemporary tactical shooter vibes that could limit its appeal.

The game includes elements like jetpacks, RPGs for shooting down helicopters, cover shooting, melee takedowns, and even zombies, combining various features that have defined MMO shooters over the past two decades.

While it may resonate with players who have fond memories of titles like The Division, it risks getting lost in a crowded market filled with alternatives. Cinder City is slated for release in 2026.
