Petition Gains Traction for the Ouster of Roblox's CEO

More than 120,000 signatures collected for a petition demanding the removal of Roblox CEO David Baszucki amid growing concerns over user safety.

A petition seeking the removal of Roblox CEO David Baszucki has garnered over 120,000 signatures. This initiative surged following multiple controversies surrounding the gaming platform, particularly its perceived shortcomings in protecting its younger user base.

Roblox boasts an impressive 85 million daily active users, with a significant portion of them being 16 years or younger. Recently, the State of Louisiana has taken legal action against Roblox, citing the platform for creating a hazardous online atmosphere ripe for child predators. In addition, a family from Des Moines, Iowa filed a lawsuit, alleging their 13-year-old child faced grooming on the platform, leading to a kidnapping incident.

Petition to Remove David Baszucki Gains Momentum

In light of these challenges, a Change.org petition named “Remove David Baszucki” has seen substantial backing, obtaining more than 120,000 verified signatures. The petition accuses Roblox of inadequately addressing predators on the platform, neglecting to curb dangerous content, and ignoring calls for reforms by higher management.

While Roblox and Baszucki have not directly addressed the petition, the company did respond to the Louisiana lawsuit, claiming to have introduced numerous safety enhancements, including over 40 moderation tools in the past year.

Recent controversies regarding child safety have impacted Roblox significantly, leading to a 7% drop in stock prices, although they are starting to regain some value. As user dissatisfaction rises, the company’s response will be crucial in shaping its future amid the wave of criticism.
