Marvel Rivals Could Bring New Characters to the Game

Marvel Rivals is reportedly considering the addition of original characters to its roster, which could significantly enhance its gameplay experience.

Marvel Rivals may expand its roster by introducing original characters according to recent reports. Such creative flexibility could enrich the game’s narrative and gameplay experience, enhancing its appeal for players.

Since its launch in December 2024, the game has consistently attracted a significant user base, partially due to regular character additions. Initial seasons featured notable characters like the Fantastic Four, Ultron, and Emma Frost. The current season introduced fan-favorites such as Blade and Phoenix, leaving anticipation for new content that includes unique characters.

NetEase’s Vision for Original Characters

Guangyun Chen, the Creative Director at NetEase, confirmed that they are permitted to create original characters specifically for Marvel Rivals. This means that the studio can develop its own heroes from scratch without the limitation of existing Marvel lore. While Chen did not give a definitive answer about the development of new characters, he hinted at future revelations, encouraging fans to ‘stay tuned.’

The incorporation of original characters can provide fresh content that enhances the game’s narrative dimension while offering a surprise element regarding gameplay abilities. However, considering many beloved characters are still absent, it seems sensible for NetEase to focus on including these familiar faces before creating entirely new ones.

For players familiar with the Marvel universe, this could signal exciting times ahead as they eagerly await announcements about upcoming characters and game content.
