When you think about a light touch remaster of a 21-year-old real-time strategy game—especially one sold at full price—you might wonder about its appeal to gamers. However, Relic Entertainment recently announced on Twitter that their remastered edition of Dawn of War has sold 150,000 copies within the first 24 hours of launch.
For years, I tried to persuade others to dive into Dawn of War, often facing challenges due to its need for modern tweaks and various releases. Previously, players had to navigate multiple versions, depending on their favored factions or campaigns.
Now, with one consolidated version that includes all armies and campaigns, newcomers can easily join the fray. Though the graphics receive a slight upgrade, the original charm remains, ensuring fans encounter the nostalgia of the 2004 experience.
