Ongoing Legal Battle Surrounds Subnautica 2 as Minor Updates and Discounts Roll Out for the Franchise

As the lawsuit between Krafton and former Unknown Worlds leadership continues, the Subnautica series sees minor patches and significant discounts.

Ongoing Legal Battle Surrounds Subnautica 2

Subnautica 2 has become a significant topic of discussion this year, unfortunately for reasons surrounding a legal dispute rather than the game itself. Following the unexpected termination of the entire management team at Unknown Worlds Entertainment by its publisher Krafton, turmoil has ensued.

The ousted leadership, including co-founders Charlie Cleveland and Max McGuire, initiated legal proceedings against Krafton. They argue that Krafton is attempting to delay the launch of Subnautica 2, originally scheduled for 2025, to escape a hefty financial obligation. In retaliation, Krafton contends that Subnautica 2 was not prepared for an early access release and accused Cleveland and McGuire of abandoning their studio responsibilities to pursue personal ventures.

The situation remains convoluted and strained for Unknown Worlds, as they strive to advance the sequel and also provide updates for the original Subnautica game and its spin-off, Below Zero.

Both titles are reportedly receiving patches that tweak gameplay and mechanics, indicating that development continues despite the legal entanglements. Furthermore, the games are available at notable discounts, each priced at 75% off, making them more accessible to new players eager to join the underwater exploration.

Players are encouraged to enjoy these experiences before the much-anticipated early access release of Subnautica 2, now anticipated sometime in 2026. It’s clear that while the gaming world’s attention has turned to the impending sequel, the original games still hold immense value and popularity.
