They argue that Krafton is attempting to delay the launch of Subnautica 2, originally scheduled for 2025, to escape a hefty financial obligation. In retaliation, Krafton contends that Subnautica 2 was not prepared for an early access release and accused Cleveland and McGuire of abandoning their studio responsibilities to pursue personal ventures.

The situation remains convoluted and strained for Unknown Worlds, as they strive to advance the sequel and also provide updates for the original Subnautica game and its spin-off, Below Zero.

Both titles are reportedly receiving patches that tweak gameplay and mechanics, indicating that development continues despite the legal entanglements.
