In addition to functioning as cute collectible pets, Companions in Disney Dreamlight Valley can help players enhance their gameplay by increasing friendship levels, which unlock additional inventory slots and exclusive clothing and furniture rewards. Currently, the game features about 150 different animal Companions, with a selection acquired from various past special events.

The latest winner, announced following a community voting effort, is a pink Eastern-style dragon adorned with cherry blossoms. This design received 66% of the votes, surpassing other designs including a sunflower dragon and a fall leaf-themed dragon.
