It’s a classic videogame narrative: an exciting announcement trailer creates much anticipation, and then… silence for a prolonged period. Developers and publishers often echo this sentiment, claiming, “We announced the game too early.” However, the marketing machinery presses on.
Now, we finally get a glimpse of Jurassic Park: Survival, which has largely remained under wraps since its reveal in December 2023.
The latest offering comes in the form of a fluffy behind-the-scenes video, which showcases Saber Interactive’s passion for the franchise. There’s a strong focus on authenticity, as they intend to faithfully recreate scenes from the original movie, including the iconic kitchen scene.
In a statement, John Melchior, executive producer at Universal, notes, “We go through room by room in the game, level by level. We examine every resource from archives, including film details and production blueprints to ensure every prop is exactly where it should be.”
For players eager to learn more about the game’s development, details remain scarce. We do, however, catch glimpses of some pre-alpha footage featuring hallways and dinosaurs.
Payal Mistry, the voice behind Dr. Maya Joshi, describes her character’s arc: “Maya was recruited by Dr. Henry Wu to join InGen as a scientist, and at the start of her journey, she finds it impossible to escape Isla Nublar.” Mistry expresses excitement about portraying a character that she believes stands on the shoulders of iconic female figures in cinema history.
Unfortunately, it appears that significant information about the gameplay will take time to surface. Saber Interactive hinted at the possibility of revealing more at the upcoming Gamescom, but it won’t be featured there, fueling further speculation.
