Surprise Updates Released for Subnautica and Below Zero
Unknown Worlds has issued new updates that enhance the gaming experience by fixing bugs and enabling controller support for Subnautica.
On August 12, Unknown Worlds launched fresh updates for Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero, providing fixes for several bugs in both titles. Notably, the update for Subnautica introduced controller support for PC users playing through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The updates coincided with ongoing disputes following the dismissal of the studio’s leadership. Previous developers have taken legal action against Krafton, alleging that it postponed Subnautica 2 to avoid a significant bonus to Unknown Worlds’ staff. A formal response from Krafton regarding these claims was documented in a Delaware court on the same day.
Despite the legal battles, the development team continues to support the original games. The recent updates are especially important for controller users on PC, allowing various hardware such as the PS5 DualSense and Xbox controllers to be utilized effectively.
Some of the improvements include:
- Enhanced controller support for Subnautica on PC.
- Bug fixes addressing game stability issues that could lead to freezing.
For Subnautica: Below Zero, there were also significant adjustments made to the Snowfox vehicle to enhance its usability while addressing collision detection problems.
