Rockstar Games Is Juggling More Than Just GTA 6 Development
Recent insights reveal that Rockstar Games is simultaneously working on multiple projects beyond the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6.
Given that it has been twelve long years since the release of Grand Theft Auto 5, many fans assumed that Rockstar Games would now solely be focused on Grand Theft Auto 6 and nothing else. However, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, recently revealed in an interview that Rockstar has “a lot of other things going on” outside of this highly anticipated title.
Unlike franchises such as Call of Duty or WWE 2K, which see new entries frequently, new iterations in the Grand Theft Auto series are infrequent. Known for their meticulous development, Rockstar plans for a Fall 2025 release for GTA 6, though this was delayed to May 26, 2026, to ensure high-quality standards are maintained.
In an interview with CNBC, Zelnick confirmed that while a large part of Rockstar is engaged with GTA 6, they are also pursuing other projects. He didn’t specify what these were but emphasized that GTA 6 remains the studio’s primary focus.
Fans have longed for a Bully remake or sequel, yet there has been scant evidence suggesting immediate plans for this. It’s more likely Rockstar is developing a current-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2, given its immense popularity.
Regardless of what Rockstar is up to beyond GTA 6, it seems fans will have to wait to catch a glimpse of those potential projects. Zelnick remains optimistic about the current release window for GTA 6, stating his confidence level is high against any further delays.
