Intel's CEO to Meet with President Trump Amid Pressures

Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan visits the White House to discuss company challenges shortly after Trump called for his resignation.

Intel’s CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, is set to visit the White House today to discuss several pressing issues with President Donald Trump. This meeting follows an awkward week where Trump called for Tan’s resignation via social media platform Truth Social.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, they are expected to go over Tan’s professional background and how Intel can collaborate with the US government moving forward.

In the past week, Trump publicly questioned Tan’s position, suggesting, “The CEO of Intel is highly CONFLICTED and must resign immediately.”

Tan and Intel’s board have since emphasized their commitment to aligning with U.S. national interests, stating:

“Intel and its Board of Directors, as well as Lip-Bu Tan, are significantly invested in promoting national security and economic strategies that resonate with the President’s America First agenda.”

However, challenges persist for Intel, especially regarding its manufacturing strategies. Tan warned in a recent SEC filing that if Intel cannot secure a major external customer for its 14A technology, it may need to halt development on that front to cut costs, risking the future of domestic chip production in the U.S.

As pressures mount, Tan’s meeting with Trump may influence the next steps Intel takes to navigate these turbulent challenges.
