Bithell Games Reduces Workforce After Recent Game Release
Bithell Games, the creator of 'Tron: Catalyst', has announced layoffs for a significant portion of its team due to funding challenges.
Bithell Games, known for their titles like John Wick Hex and Tron: Catalyst, announced today that it will be laying off 11 staff members after struggling to secure a new large-scale project.
Studio founder Mike Bithell expressed concerns regarding the significant challenges that many developers are facing in securing funding. He noted that they had anticipated these challenges leading up to the release of their latest game.
In a statement shared via Bluesky, Bithell mentioned, “We’ve fortunately been able to communicate these challenges ahead of time, and work with affected staff to ease departures as much as possible via severance packages.”
Bithell Games, which started in 2013 following the success of the game Thomas Was Alone, has launched several indie games and licensed titles over the years. The recent struggles with funding signal a broader challenge in the industry, particularly for studios looking to scale up their projects.
