Grass Wonder, Legendary Racehorse, Passes Away at Age 30

The iconic thoroughbred Grass Wonder, known for his impressive racing legacy, has died at 30 years old.

Grass Wonder, a celebrated thoroughbred who won the Japanese Best Two-Year-Old Colt award in 1997 and later became a significant inspiration for the gacha game Umamusume: Pretty Derby, has died at the age of 30 due to age-related health issues at Big Red Farm in Japan.

Having retired from racing in 2000, Grass Wonder achieved fame for his exceptional racing career and impressive performance, particularly including victories at the Arima Kinen. He was regarded as a key figure in the golden generation of Japanese racehorses.

In a statement, Big Red Farm expressed their condolences: “Our deepest condolences to a distinguished horse who left a significant achievement in Japanese horse racing. Rest in peace, Grass Wonder.”

With a legacy that continues to inspire fans and players worldwide, Grass Wonder leaves behind a remarkable history in horse racing.
