Rod Fergusson Departs Blizzard After Five Years Leading Diablo Franchise

Rod Fergusson, the head of the Diablo series at Blizzard, announces his departure for a new venture after five successful years.

After five years steering the Diablo franchise through four significant launches, Rod Fergusson has announced his exit from Blizzard. In a message shared on Bluesky, he expressed pride in the achievements made during his tenure, stating:

“After five years driving the Diablo franchise with four big launches, it’s time to step away from Blizzard/Microsoft, sword in hand, and see what’s next. I’m proud of what we’ve built and excited for what’s ahead for Diablo, and for me.”

Fergusson’s career has spanned decades, starting at Microsoft in the 1990s. He is well-known for his work on the Gears of War series and has recently been instrumental in guiding Diablo to success. His departure comes after the recent successes of Diablo IV and its expansion, marking a significant moment for the company as it continues to evolve under new leadership.
