Red Dead Redemption 2 has achieved a remarkable feat by selling over 77 million copies, as revealed in a recent earnings report from Take-Two Interactive. Launched nearly seven years ago, this celebrated action-adventure game remains a strong contender in terms of sales figures for both Rockstar and Take-Two.
Despite the game’s age and anticipation for a sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to shine in the industry. According to data, it ranks as the sixth best-selling game of all time, having moved 63 million copies by May 2024. Following an impressive sales surge, it has now ascended even higher on the charts.
A Sales Leader in the U.S.
Take-Two’s latest financial results indicate that the entire Red Dead series has accumulated over 104 million units sold globally, with RDR2 being responsible for 77 million of those sales, making it the top-grossing title in the U.S. within the last seven years based on revenue.
Interestingly, despite recent price increases in certain markets and the lack of major updates or a PS5/Xbox Series X optimized version, the game’s sales have not dwindled. Observers are hopeful that RDR 2 might see a current-generation upgrade and even a future release on Nintendo’s next console. The continued success of RDR 2 is reassuring for both fans and developers alike.
