Update 1.2.0 for Mario Kart World Adjusts Controversial Feature

The latest patch for Mario Kart World modifies the performance of the Boomerang Flower item while introducing new features and fixing bugs.

On July 29, Mario Kart World released its version 1.2.0 update, which includes a significant nerf to the Boomerang Flower item, reducing its homing abilities. Additionally, the update introduces new game’s rules for VS Race mode for both single-player and multiplayer, along with various bug fixes.

The 1.2.0 update follows the controversial version 1.1.2 patch, which had prioritized intermission courses in the online mode, leading to player dissatisfaction and calls for a reversal of that change.

Update Highlights:

  • Nerf to Boomerang Flower: The item now requires more careful aim due to its reduced homing effect.
  • New Rules for VS Race: Players can now select “No COM” and “Mushrooms Only” options.
  • Increase in Lap-Type Courses: Lap courses will now appear more frequently in race selections.

New updates often come with both fixes and new features, and support for Mario Kart World continues to develop robustly, signaling potential future adjustments from Nintendo.
