Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is currently struggling under a wave of negative Steam reviews—only 30% are positive—mainly due to performance and bug issues.
I personally experienced similar problems, thinking it was due to my modest 3060 graphics card. However, I wasn’t the only one facing lag and texture issues:
“I had spent probably the first 30-45 minutes just fiddling with the graphics settings. Nothing seemed to want to make this run at a decent GPU usage, FPS and latency,” writes one player. Another player noted the good quality of boss fights but ultimately rated it negatively due to performance problems.
The developer, Leenzee, acknowledged these issues in a Steam statement: “We have received reports regarding optimization issues, errors in pre-order rewards distribution, and some pricing anomalies. These problems should never have occurred, and we deeply regret the negative experiences that players are currently facing.”
They further expressed confidence in the game’s performance within the recommended specs but are actively working on optimizations, promising a patch as soon as possible.
Critics have mixed feelings, with our reviewer, Tyler Colp, stating it often reminds players of how much better FromSoft has handled these elements in their titles in his review of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.
It’s important to note that performance-related flaws during gameplay, like frame rate issues, could dampen the initial experience, which could be rectified moving forward as further updates and patches roll out.
