Robert Kirkman Hints at a Surprising Character Roster for Invincible VS

Robert Kirkman has teased an exciting lineup of characters for Invincible VS, the upcoming fighting game based on his comic series.

In a recent conversation, Robert Kirkman, the mind behind Invincible, confirmed that an extensive roster of playable characters is on the way for Invincible VS, a highly awaited 3v3 tag team fighting game inspired by his hit comic series and animated show. This title is being developed by Skybound Games and Quarter Up, with a planned release in 2026 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.

Originally starting as a crowdfunding endeavor in 2024, the project aimed to produce a high-quality fighting game and exceeded expectations, raising over $687,000 while surpassing its initial goal of $50,000. The game was officially unveiled at the 2025 Xbox Summer Showcase, where characters like Omni-Man, Lucan, Thula, Atom Eve, Rex Splode, and Mark Grayson were introduced as playable fighters. A more recent gameplay trailer featuring Battle Beast was also showcased at the San Diego Comic-Con.

In an IGN interview at SDCC 2025, Kirkman expressed his excitement over the character lineup, stating it’s set to be “absolutely insane” while keeping details a bit of a mystery. He hinted that fans should feel optimistic about the inclusion of many beloved characters, suggesting a possible staggered release format that could see additional fighters added post-launch through downloadable content (DLC).

Kirkman also noted that it is crucial to ensure balance among the fighters, which presents a significant challenge when dealing with a large roster. He hinted at releasing the game sooner than expected within the 2026 timeframe, potentially in the first half of the year.
