During an AI Summit held in Washington, DC, President Trump voiced his discontent with the term ‘artificial intelligence.’ He stated, “I actually mean that; I don’t like anything that’s artificial.”
He subsequently suggested that the name be changed altogether, emphasizing that it should reflect the true essence of the technology, which he believes is super-intelligent rather than artificial.
Trump also expressed frustration at how widely the term is used in discussions surrounding the technology, saying, “Around the globe, everyone is talking about artificial intelligence… artificial, I can’t stand it.”
In explaining his point of view, he remarked, “It’s not artificial, it’s genius.”
Despite the President not suggesting a specific new name, he highlighted that alternatives like machine learning or neural networks could be more suitable descriptions.
At the summit, he continued to showcase his support for AI advancements while maintaining a critical stance towards the terminology used.
