While AI appreciation day fell on July 16, the buzz surrounding AI technologies continues, especially following Trump’s AI action plan and the recent ‘Winning the AI Race’ summit where AMD’s CEO Dr. Lisa Su participated alongside Nvidia’s Jensen Huang.
During the event, Dr. Su indicated that AI might play a significant role in designing next-generation graphics processing units (GPUs). She mentioned approach where AI could aid in innovative manufacturing processes:
“We think about how AI will design future chips, and it will design pieces of it. But there’s still a creativity in bringing it all together that I think humans are still absolutely at the center. So I don’t necessarily see the AI designing our next-generation GPU, but I do see it helping us design the next-generation GPU much faster and more reliably.”
Translation: We expect artificial intelligence to contribute significantly to the design of future chips, creating new components, yet the creative aspect will still rely on human input, assisting in hastening the design process for future GPUs.
In addition to designing components, Dr. Su emphasized the need for educational initiatives to prepare future generations for a career in AI technology, which she believes could greatly influence various fields including medicine, manufacturing, and more.
She imagines a future where AI innovations could tackle some of the world’s pressing challenges, hinting at a more efficient and advanced methods for producing gaming hardware without compromising quality.
Stay tuned as they shape the future of gaming technology!
