Ghost of Yotei May Not Feature Popular Legends Mode at Launch

Creative directors from Sucker Punch discuss the uncertainty surrounding the return of multi-player Legends mode in the upcoming Ghost of Yotei game.

Creative directors Nate Fox and Jason Connell from Sucker Punch recently shared insights regarding the anticipated Ghost of Yotei. A key question remains: will the beloved Legends multiplayer mode make its debut in this new game?

“We are extremely happy with Ghost of Tsushima Legends.” (Translation: We are very pleased with the multiplayer mode from Ghost of Tsushima.)

Although the previous games in the franchise thrived on single-player experiences, the original Ghost of Tsushima surprised players by including a multiplayer option called Legends.

In this mode, up to four players team up, adopting various classes to combat waves of enemies inspired by Japanese mythology. This mode quickly gained popularity and was a compelling addition to the main storyline, raising questions about its potential return in Ghost of Yotei.

In a recent interview, Fox and Connell revealed their focus is primarily on completing the single-player game ahead of its launch, leading to doubts about the Legends mode’s availability at launch.

Future of Legends Mode

Fox hinted that while the return of the Legends mode isn’t confirmed at launch, it doesn’t rule out its introduction in a future update. The directors recalled how Legends evolved post-launch since its successful debut in 2020. With improvements and expansions over time, fans may still see it return eventually.

The anticipation around the upcoming game has been intense, particularly regarding its expanded arsenal for the protagonist, Atsu. Players can expect innovations like the ability to summon NPC allies and improved interactions within the vibrant open world of Ghost of Yotei.

As launch day approaches in October 2025, both excitement and curiosity surrounding the game and its features continue to build.
