The developer of the recently launched Soulslike action RPG Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has responded to issues players have encountered, particularly regarding game performance and problems with pre-order rewards. Additionally, the title’s incorrect pricing in several regions has added to player frustration.
Shortly after its launch on July 24, Wuchang hit a significant milestone on Steam, with over 100,000 concurrent players. First announced in 2021, the game’s hype surged following its showcase at the June 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, demonstrating its impressive graphics and unique gameplay mechanics. Players have praised the game’s level design and skill trees, but have also expressed dissatisfaction due to various launch issues. Fortunately, the development team has provided a comprehensive response to the community’s concerns.
In a statement on Steam, Leenzee Games and 505 Games addressed the optimization challenges on PC and acknowledged other problems. They assured players that a patch is on the way to improve performance, as many have criticized it for being another unstable Unreal Engine 5 release. The patch’s release date remains uncertain. Furthermore, there have been reports of players being unable to access their pre-order bonuses, attributed to a bug that will also be fixed in the forthcoming update. As compensation, everyone who purchased the game on Steam will be eligible for a free digital soundtrack, and buyers of the Deluxe Edition will receive an exclusive costume in a future update. The studio is also working on correcting the mispricing of the game in certain regions.
For those with an Xbox Game Pass subscription, Wuchang is currently available to play, having been added to the service on its launch day. More notable releases are on the horizon, including Grounded 2 on July 29 and Gears of War: Reloaded on August 26. In addition, 2025 has been an exceptionally busy year for Soulslike games, with players still engaged with Lies of P’s DLC, The First Berserker: Khazan, and Elden Ring Nightreign. At the recent Summer Game Fest, two unexpected sequels for the genre were announced, generating even more excitement among fans; both Code Vein 2 and Mortal Shell 2 are in development, with positive reactions already emerging despite no announced release dates.
