Google has disclosed that it made an impressive $9.79 billion in ad revenue from YouTube during the second quarter of 2025. This highlights YouTube’s continued popularity and Google’s financial gain from it.
Revenue generation from YouTube involves users subscribing to channels for a monthly fee, donations during livestream super chats, the YouTube Premium subscription service, and advertisements. This tally is just a part of Google’s overall income.
In a recent quarterly report, Google reported that, while YouTube ads accumulated $9.79 billion, the total advertising revenue across all Google services reached $71.34 billion, with $11.20 billion from subscriptions and $13.62 billion from Google Cloud.
Continuing Growth in YouTube’s Revenue
This revenue of $9.79 billion indicates a growth compared to 2024, where YouTube earned around $8.66 billion from ads. In 2021, this figure was at $7.2 billion for Q3, and it is projected that 2025 might surpass this previous total.
Despite controversies, such as backlash over enabling ads on all eligible channels regardless of users being part of the Partner Program, YouTube has continued to thrive. The increasing prevalence of ads, such as those appearing even during pause periods, indicates Google’s firm approach towards maximizing ad visibility. While some users prefer ad-free experiences, they can opt for the YouTube Premium subscription which reduces ads significantly.
