Bethesda, the studio behind Starfield, has recently suggested they have some “exciting things planned” for the game, reassuring fans eager for updates. Since launching in 2023, Starfield has received numerous patches, yet players are hopeful for a significant content update as they feel the current offering is lacking.
As the company’s first new intellectual property in over 25 years, the anticipation was notably high, particularly when Todd Howard described it as “Skyrim in space.” Despite generally positive reviews, some players have voiced frustration over the perceived scarcity of new content. During the June 2025 Xbox Games Showcase, no new features or updates for Starfield were announced, raising concerns about its ongoing support. Nevertheless, Bethesda’s recent remarks indicate they are dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the game.
In addition to ongoing bug fixes through updates like the July Steam Beta, developers have hinted at new content and a second expansion, while discussions around a possible PS5 port continue despite no confirmations.
Starfield Developers Are Reportedly Hard at Work On New Content for the Space RPG
While Bethesda is known for its beloved franchises like Elder Scrolls and Fallout, former developer Nate Purkeypile expressed concerns, suggesting that Starfield may feel “too sterile” and hoped for a return to the studio’s roots. Players are indeed pleased with the regular support, but many are eager for more varied experiences.
Earlier reports suggested that Starfield’s next major DLC expansion may have been postponed until 2026, following criticisms surrounding the first DLC, Shattered Space, which was met with mixed feedback due to bugs and a lack of innovation.
