PlatinumGames Erases Key Information on Project GG from Website
PlatinumGames has significantly altered its website, removing the majority of its game catalog, including Project GG, sparking criticism from former staff.
PlatinumGames has made a surprising change to its website by removing a page that previously displayed game releases. This deletion wipes away traces of the Ultraman-inspired Project GG.
According to archived versions of the Platinum site, a page named “Games” that listed 22 of the studio’s titles since its inception in 2006 has now redirected to the homepage. In its place is a new section titled “Works,” showcasing just eight games, along with the newly announced Ninja Gaiden 4, developed with Team Ninja.
Among the titles vanished from the website are Babylon’s Fall, a Square Enix-published RPG that closed less than a year after launch, and Project GG, a superhero game that was supposed to be directed by Hideki Kamiya before his departure in 2023.
Project GG, teased with a trailer in 2020, was meant to be Platinum’s first self-published title and was highlighted as a climactic addition to Kamiya’s previous projects, Viewtiful Joe and The Wonderful 101.
Little information emerged about Project GG post-announcement, and after Kamiya’s exit, it seems his connection to the project has ceased. When queried about Project GG’s future shortly after his departure, he remarked: “ask Platinum about Platinum.”
Currently, there are few hints of Project GG’s existence, with only a teaser trailer remaining on Platinum’s YouTube channel.
Former producer Jean Pierre Kellams voiced his discontent over the website changes, stating, “PlatinumGames erasing its history on its website is extremely regrettable. I wonder if they pulled the carpet tiles out of the lobby, too. As someone proud of working on those games, I feel deeply insulted by this.”
PlatinumGames has yet to respond to requests for comments regarding this matter.
