EA Acknowledges Player Feedback, Reinstates Classic Class Weapons for Battlefield 6 Beta

EA has responded to player demands by allowing classic class weapons in the Battlefield 6 beta, although their availability at launch remains uncertain.

EA has managed an impressive feat: they’ve made a thoughtful decision regarding the class system for Battlefield 6.

Earlier this year, the company faced backlash over developers’ blogs which revealed that the class system would maintain a controversial change from Battlefield 2042. This allowed all classes to utilize all weapons. EA stated:

“We envision the future of Battlefield classes to be a series of interconnected systems and fundamentals that shape your role on the field, while granting you the freedom to customize how you execute that role.”

Today, in a recent post on their official Battlefield account, EA updated their stance:

“Open Weapons vs Closed Weapons. Why not both? Starting at Open Beta, players can choose official playlists with Signature Weapons locked to class, or not. More to come.”

This announcement marks a significant shift, especially considering EA had reaffirmed their ‘weapons free-for-all’ policy just a week prior. Given the traditionalists’ perspective, many will welcome the return to class-specific weapons that characterized earlier installments of the franchise. DICE intends to monitor which weapon sets gain popularity during the upcoming Battlefield 6 open beta, rumored for early August, to define the final ruleset for launch day.
