In the upcoming siege update for Total War: Warhammer 3, players will no longer be able to utilize the improbable “pocket ladders” during combat. Previously regarded as an unrealistic convenience, the ability for units to produce ladders from thin air sparked significant debate among gamers. Therefore, the Creative Assembly aims to enhance tactical depth by replacing these ladders with other siege equipment and making them a menu toggle option.
Milcho Vasilev, battle team lead at Creative Assembly Sofia, stated, “While it’s not flawless and there are numerous aspects to improve, the immersion-breaking element of pulling a large ladder from nowhere detracts from the strategic planning of battles.”
The update promises more than just the removal of pocket ladders, as multiple sources of siege equipment will be revised to strike a balance in gameplay, including more strategically optimized towers and battering rams. Additionally, adjustments to siege attrition will lead to tougher defenses while providing a realistic combat experience.
The beta testing phase for these changes will take place over two weeks, commencing July 24 and concluding August 7, with official deployment slated for after the test period.
