Upcoming fantasy action RPG Soulframe was originally set to debut later this year, but the developers at Digital Extremes have expressed uncertainty about launching in 2025. Nevertheless, players can dive into the pre-alpha version of the game (dubbed “Preludes”) available for a limited time this weekend.
The situation was detailed in an interview with Eurogamer by Soulframe’s creative director, Geoff Crookes, and community manager Sarah Asselin. When asked about the game’s alignment with the 2025 release window, Crookes responded with ambiguity: “I’m going to be flakey here and say we have ambitions. We’re going to judge where we are in the fall. We have ambitions to release it as soon as we can!”
Asselin referred to the targeted fall release as an “aspirational goal,” adding, “We’re looking at where we’re at by the end of the year, but we want to feel confident that we’ve built Soulframe out to the point where it feels good to do so, for the players and the developers.”
