Pokemon GO Community Day Events Spark Discontent Among Players
Players express concerns over the scheduling of Community Day events in Pokemon GO and propose adjustments to enhance the gaming experience.
Fans of Pokemon GO have raised concerns regarding the scheduling of Community Day events, arguing that the typical timeframe can be inconvenient for many players. Events held outdoors throughout the year often coincide with extreme weather conditions during summer.
Community Days, which occur monthly, allow players to catch plentiful copies of a specific Pokémon for a limited duration. Frequently, these events focus on rare or popular Pokémon, drawing large interest from players. For instance, the Pokemon GO Quaxly Community Day on July 20 will feature shiny versions and grant new attacks for Quaquaval.
However, players have identified major issues with the current setup, especially regarding the limited three-hour window for these events, which runs from 2 PM to 5 PM. As a player named carlkentt noted in a subreddit discussion, this slot can be challenging to navigate due to summertime heat. The suggestion is to instead schedule events between 10 AM and 1 PM or 5 PM and 8 PM to make it safer for players.
Community Days should ideally last longer, promoting inclusivity for those who might miss the limited timeframe. Another opinion stemmed from players suggesting that such events should stretch over two days instead of just one to accommodate various schedules, especially for those working weekends.
While some players supported this change, others pointed out that adjusting events solely for summer might adversely affect players experiencing winter in different hemispheres. A compromise could be to lengthen the duration of events or regional adjustment based on local weather conditions, given that Pokemon GO already integrates weather elements to inform players about their surroundings.
As a global mobile game, Pokemon GO is gradually standardizing its events, but sometimes these regulations can compromise players’ enjoyment. The upcoming Rookidee Community Day on August 30 illustrates this as players voted on the featured Pokémon through a poll.
