The game 7 Days to Die is encountering significant backlash from its player base following the recent release of its 2.0 update, known as “Storm’s Brewing,” launched in late June. While players previously expressed satisfaction with earlier versions, the numerous alterations introduced in this update have prompted calls for the publisher and developer, The Fun Pimps, to revert to previous versions of the game.
The open-world survival horror experience, which is playable on various consoles, has received a generally positive responses on Steam since its launch on the platform last year, where 88% of over 257,000 players rated it favorably. Yet, a concerning trend has emerged in recent reviews, where only 68% of players have recently endorsed the game as positive, categorizing the feedback as “Mixed.”
Fans are particularly critical of the changes associated with the new biomes and gameplay mechanics that have impacted gameplay flow, increasing the complexity of crafting items necessary to navigate the environmental hardships presented in the new areas. Moreover, complaints have arisen about new storm types affecting visibility and overall performance of the game.
Despite the release of Patch 2.1 aimed at adjusting storm occurrences, many players remain unsatisfied and are advocating for a return to the version prior to 2.0, reminiscent of the game’s high acclaim in 2024.
