Ubisoft Reveals Production Costs of Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Ubisoft's CEO has disclosed that the production budget for Assassin’s Creed Shadows surpassed $116 million. This amount falls short of the company's annual losses but could be beneficial for Ubisoft's financial future.
The game Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been confirmed to have a production budget exceeding $116 million amid significant financial setbacks for Ubisoft. Despite the substantial figure, it remains below the company’s annual net losses.
The success of the game set in feudal Japan is evident, with record-breaking launch day sales. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is noted as having the second-biggest launch day in the franchise’s history, following Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
At a recent Ubisoft shareholders meeting, Yves Guillemot confirmed the substantial budget, which includes development, production, distribution, and marketing costs, though he hinted that a significant part of the funds contributed to enhancements in the game’s engine.
This budget places Assassin’s Creed Shadows among the more expensive titles in gaming, notably less than competitors like Genshin Impact, which reported development costs that may reach $900 million when adjusted for inflation.
