Bungie Addresses Destiny 2's Motion Sickness Issue in New Expansion

Bungie is taking steps to fix the motion sickness caused by the new Matterspark mode in Destiny 2, which has been alarming players and affecting their gaming experience.

Destiny 2’s expansion, Edge of Fate, has not been well-received, sparking concerns of motion sickness related to its new Matterspark mode. Players have reported severe discomfort when using this mode. The Destiny 2 Team publicly acknowledged the issue via Twitter, stating:

We will be making changes to Matterspark soon to reduce motion sickness and visual issues. Until then, players can change specific settings that may help reduce these issues. Please view our guide for more information.

The Matterspark mode allows players to transform into a glowing ball, reminiscent of the morph ball from Metroid Prime. However, feedback from players has been largely negative, with many stating they can’t tolerate it for more than 30 minutes without feeling ill. Some players have also reported strobing and flashing issues.

Bungie’s forthcoming fixes include reducing the FPS cap and turning off motion blur for users experiencing the issues. The Edge of Fate is designed to introduce fresh elements to gameplay, but it continues to face skepticism from the community regarding its overall direction and quality.
