Warframe Sets Course for Tau in 2026

The latest announcement from Digital Extremes reveals that players will venture to the Tau system in Warframe's upcoming expansion.

At the tenth TennoCon fan conference held on Saturday, Digital Extremes shared exciting plans for a new era of Warframe. Players can look forward to journeying to Tau in 2026, a location that has been anticipated for years. This follows an upcoming major update titled The Old Peace, heralding changes to the game and concluding in 2025.

The Tau system is significant in Warframe lore, marking the origin of many major conflicts. Years before the game’s events, the synthetic race known as the Sentients turned against their role as terraformers for the Orokin empire, leading to a violent rebellion. The Old War saw the Tenno, equipped with Warframes, being the only force capable of pushing back the Sentient attack until they also rebelled against their oppressors.

As players prepare for their venture to Tau, the upcoming Old Peace update will allow them to relive crucial moments from this historical conflict. Expect players to experience archived memories during a negotiation attempt between the Orokin and Sentient forces on the moon of Perita.

Digital Extremes has not disclosed all the upcoming features for this expansion, but they promised to keep fans engaged with upcoming updates. It’s clear 2026 will be a pivotal year in the continuing saga of Warframe, and fans are encouraged to stay tuned for more developments!
