Several players of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone are facing bans for using AFK farming techniques in the game’s Plunder mode. Activision has intensified its efforts against cheaters, leading to significant repercussions over the past months, although some players believe these measures are excessive. While many gamers argue that staying idle in Plunder is harmless, Activision maintains a different standpoint.
Gaining experience quickly in Call of Duty can be quite challenging, particularly in ranked matches. As a result, players often explore methods to earn XP efficiently, with one of the best strategies being to engage in alternative modes like Plunder. Yet, some players have developed tactics that the developers deem inappropriate.
Game users being banned
The recent permanent bans are part of a broader campaign against cheating, resulting in over 228,000 accounts being banned since Black Ops 6 debuted in October 2024. While the majority of players appreciate the reduction of cheaters in ranked games, the steps taken by Activision are not universally welcomed. Some streamers have criticized the company’s approach, suggesting that penalizing players who merely do not contribute in a Plunder match equates them to hackers, which they find unreasonable.
In addition to AFK bans, earlier in 2025, one CoD player was issued a 67-year ban for breaking chat policies, effectively becoming a permanent ban. It remains unclear whether Activision will modify its policy based on the numerous complaints received, but this trend is one that players should observe closely.
