Incredible Capture: Pokemon GO Player Snags Rare Scyther

A Pokemon GO enthusiast has stunned the gaming community by capturing a rare Scyther with a remarkable one in 442,368 chance.

A Pokemon GO player recently achieved a remarkable feat by catching a Scyther, estimating their chance of success at a staggering 1 in 442,368. The original Kanto region was the first to feature all monsters in Pokemon GO, allowing players to find them through wild spawns and events.

While Scyther was part of the initial launch, its shiny variant was introduced back in April 2019 during the Bug Out event. That year also saw the introduction of Shadow Scyther in August, along with the shiny version in November during the Team GO Rocket Leaders Disruption event. Although catching a Scyther is usually straightforward, one player managed to grab a particularly special one, surprising many in the community.

On the Pokemon GO subreddit, user FWJSupremium proudly displayed their catch: a shiny Shadow Scyther with perfect IVs, noting that the odds of landing such a rare variant are exceptionally slim at 1 in 442,368. This specific Scyther also benefits from a weather bonus—a mechanic influenced by real-world weather, boosting the appearance and strength of specific monsters, as well as rewarding additional Stardust for catches.

Players Defy Odds with Unexpected Seizures

Pokemon GO enthusiasts have shared numerous tales of luck—both unfortunate and fortunate. For instance, one player captured a shiny Zigzagoon, known as a ’nundo’, which boasts zero stats yet holds collector value. Another fortunate player caught a ‘shundo’ Origin Forme Dialga, complete with perfect stats and the powerful move Roar of Time.

For those who have yet to experience an unexpected catch like FWJSupremium, upcoming events present opportunities to discover other special creatures. Pokemon GO plans to introduce Dynamax Latios and Latias on July 26, with Toedscool and Toedscruel set to debut on July 29. Moreover, on August 3, the game will unveil Gigantamax Butterfree.
