Some Minisforum NAB9 mini PCs are under recall because of issues linked to incorrect capacitor materials. It’s critical to note that this situation does not affect the company’s gaming PCs. The recall solely concerns a limited batch of NAB9 units manufactured between September 19, 2024, and March 14, 2025.
Minisforum has outlined that this potential fault may cause startup problems in these devices, manifesting as abnormal shutdowns or an inability to boot after a normal shutdown, often without any glowing indicator lights.
The company noted:
“In extreme cases, these devices may experience startup failures, specifically abnormal shutdowns or failure to power on after a normal shutdown, with no indicator lights turning on. Our investigation revealed that this issue is due to a mix-up in the capacitor materials supplied by our vendor for this batch.”
For those suspecting they may be impacted, check the serial number on the white label located at the device’s bottom. If the third to fifth digits fall between 386 and 526 or between 017 to 117, and if you’re encountering startup difficulties, your unit might be affected by this capacitor issue.
It remains to be seen if the manufacturer will extend its analysis to ensure a broader range of potential defects outside the indicated production dates.
If you are affected and your device was produced during the specified timeframe, you can reach out to Minisforum at [email protected] for assistance. Users will need to send their units back for verification, and a replacement device will be issued along with a 12-month warranty.
