Summary

  • BioWare executive producer Michael Gamble has assured fans that Mass Effect 5 is still happening despite recent layoffs.
  • The long-awaited title is currently in pre-production.
  • A release window for Mass Effect 5 has not been announced.

A BioWare developer confirmed that the next Mass Effect is still on track, in spite of layoffs at the studio. Announced in 2020, the development of the fifth entry in the sci-fi RPG series has been challenging, prompting concerns among fans due to restructuring at EA. However, it appears that the game will continue its development uninterrupted.

Former executives mentioned that while players might have expected a faster development timeline after the team’s focus on Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the game is still in its early stages. Even further reductions in staffing have been indicated by recent layoffs, but the core team behind Mass Effect remains dedicated to its advancement.

Looking ahead, Michael Gamble has reassured that the ongoing work on the next installment will persist despite the upheaval within the studio.
