Intel has been facing significant challenges, including poor performance in its chip releases and difficulties with manufacturing partners. Bill Gates has publicly expressed concern about the company’s state. However, the anticipated Nova Lake-S CPUs could be the turning point for Intel’s fortunes.
Recent rumors regarding the Nova Lake CPU suggest they are now taped out on TSMC’s N2 node in Taiwan, confirming the company’s shift towards these new chips. According to sources like SemiAccurate via TechPowerUp, the CPUs could combine the innovative N2 technology with Intel’s upcoming 18A node, although details remain sparse.
Traditionally, CPU releases can take several months from taping out to commercial availability, suggesting that we might not see these processors until late 2026 at the earliest. Despite these delays, the new CPUs are rumored to offer up to 25% faster performance and over double the core counts compared to the previous Arrow Lake series, making them a significant advancement in computing capabilities.
