RTX 40-Series GPUs Unlock Frame Generation for More Games
A newly available driver allows RTX 40-series graphics cards to utilize Frame Generation in games that previously did not support the feature, offering up to 44% improvement in frame rates.
Heads up, RTX 40-series GPU owners! You can now enable Frame Generation for almost any recent game with the latest Nvidia GeForce drivers. This feature, which allows for increased frames per second by generating additional frames, was previously restricted to RTX 50-series cards. Now, it is accessible to RTX 40-series users, contingent on installing the latest developer version of the GeForce Game Ready drivers (version 590.26).
While these drivers are not yet available through traditional platforms like the Nvidia website, they can be downloaded from the developer website using a developer account. Signing up is straightforward, and those who prefer to wait for a standard release should expect it soon, pending the absence of significant issues.
To utilize this feature, you can choose specific games within the Nvidia App’s Graphics tab. It’s advisable to enable it on a per-game basis, instead of applying it universally. This ensures optimal performance and visual quality.
In testing done with the RTX 4080 Super on titles like Sons of the Forest and Peak, Frame Generation produced substantial gains, boosting frame rates by 33.3% and 44%, respectively. Ultimately, while this feature holds promise, results may vary by game, and caution is recommended when operating outside of native support.
This enhancement offers a valuable option for gamers looking to maximize their experience on titles lacking built-in Frame Generation capabilities, setting the stage for more seamless gameplay.
