Rumor: Bend Studio Has Abandoned Multiple Unannounced Open World Projects
Bend Studio has reportedly shelved several unannounced games in recent years, with fans anxious about the studio's future following the cancellation of a live-service title.
Bend Studio has reportedly canceled several unannounced games in the past five years. The company has been fairly quiet since the launch of Days Gone in 2019, with their only release being a remaster of the title expected in 2025. Despite this lull, Bend Studio appears to have been working behind the scenes, but many of their projects never progressed beyond the planning stages.
Fans are already aware of some recent cancellations from the studio. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Sony axed a live-service game by Bend Studio, alongside another live-service title from Bluepoint Games based on God of War. This came as a disappointment to fans eagerly anticipating the game’s development, and it appears to be one of several projects that met a similar fate.
A gaming news account shared information from Timur222, which referenced a former Bend employee’s LinkedIn page that listed their involvement in “multiple canceled/unannounced projects” during their tenure, which lasted from late 2019 to June 2025. While it is unclear how many projects were in the works and what they entailed, there are indications that some may have involved open-world mechanics. Earlier reports indicated that Bend Studio was possibly developing an Uncharted game in 2020, which likely never saw the light of day.
There are still questions surrounding what is next for Bend Studio. Director Jeff Ross has noted that a Days Gone sequel will not happen due to lack of interest from Sony. Nevertheless, the studio remains active, leaving room for optimism about future announcements, albeit the details remain unclear for now.
