The director of Donkey Kong Bananza, Kazuya Takahashi, has brought to light concerns regarding performance drops, reassuring players that these won’t diminish the overall gaming experience. The upcoming title promises a host of new features, which may lead to slight hitches upon release.
Recently, Nintendo unveiled the development team behind this ambitious project, delighting long-time fans. The game is produced by Kenta Motokura, celebrated for his work on Super Mario Odyssey, while Takahashi, a lesser-known figure at Nintendo known for his expertise in open-world games, takes the directing helm.
According to an interview with the Spanish publication La Vanguardia, Takahashi remarked that while performance might dip if too much action occurs on-screen, he reassured fans that such instances won’t detract from the enjoyment. He stated, “Overall, the game is smooth, and at points where large-scale changes occur, we prioritized fun and playability.”
In addition, Donkey Kong Bananza is set to showcase significant destructibility within the game world, changing how players interact with their environment. Takahashi noted that while this level of destructibility is exhilarating, it could lead to frame rate drops during intense sequences with multiple explosions.
Fans should keep an eye out for this eagerly awaited Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, launching on July 17, 2025.
