YouTube Bids Farewell to the Longstanding Trending Feature
YouTube has decided to eliminate its Trending page, a feature that has been a staple for a decade, citing its declining usefulness.
YouTube is doing away with the Trending page on the website. The Trending feature has been around on YouTube for a decade, so it may come as a surprise to visitors to the video-sharing website.
YouTube regularly makes adjustments to the platform, with some being more popular than others. For example, YouTube changed the homepage in April 2025, altering the size of thumbnails, which users initially complained about. The service has seen a ton of changes and adjustments over its 20 years online, and the latest of them has just been introduced with the planned removal of this feature.
Now, YouTube has announced that it is effectively replacing the Trending tab, which has been a part of the platform since 2015. In an official support post about the change, YouTube explained that in the earlier days of YouTube, it was a simple task to compile a list of the biggest trending and viral videos on the website. However, trending videos have expanded to more and more categories and sub-genres, making the Trending page less useful for users.
The new structure, YouTube Charts, will be rolled out in the coming weeks and aims to better organize trending videos into specific categories, such as music, podcasts, and movie trailers.
