A recent rumor has surfaced regarding the online component of Grand Theft Auto 6. Various unconfirmed leaks have been making the rounds since 2022, but a new insider claims that the multiplayer mode will support notably larger player servers than what’s currently available.
Aside from the significant leak that occurred in 2022, Rockstar Games has maintained a level of secrecy about the forthcoming Grand Theft Auto title. However, industry insiders and leakers continue to share what they claim are details about GTA 6. One recent disclosure from a reputable source suggested that the game will have over 700 retail locations, a restricted weapon wheel similar to Red Dead Redemption 2, and five story chapters; notably, the ability to go prone observed in earlier leaks has been removed.
Additional information states that Rockstar Games may increase the player capacity in multiplayer lobbies to support 64 players—doubling the current maximum for GTA Online—and potentially even expand that to 96 players per server.
Moreover, reports hint that the online mode, codenamed GTA6MP, is at an advanced stage in development, surpassing the state of GTA Online during GTA 5’s production. The intention seems to be eliminating loading times for multiplayer activities, allowing players to engage with content without interruptions.
As Rockstar is known for their innovative approaches, these claims should be taken lightly until confirmed by the developer.
