New Novella 'The Doom of K’aresh' Unveiled for World of Warcraft Patch 11.2

World of Warcraft announces a prequel novella that explores the backstory of the Ethereal and Broker homeworld, setting the stage for the upcoming Patch 11.2.

World of Warcraft has released a new novella titled The Doom of K’aresh, exploring the ethereal rise and demise of the Broker homeland through the narration of Locus-Walker to Alleria. This free-to-access story acts as a prologue for Patch 11.2, titled Ghosts of K’aresh, available in both text and audio formats.

Recently, World of Warcraft disclosed details about Patch 11.2, which immerses fans in the storied origins of the Ethereals and Brokers as they venture into the fragmented history of K’aresh to thwart the Void Lord Dimensius from consuming its remnants.

This novella, framed as a conversation between Locus-Walker and Alleria before The War Within, chronicles the downfall of Locus-Walker’s home planet. It was penned by New York Times bestselling author Adam Christopher and can be accessed here as a free PDF or as an audio drama narrated by Ray Porter.

The Doom of K’aresh comprises three chapters: The Voice from the Void, The Devouring War, and Ethereum. The first depicts an intact K’aresh, recounting the World Soul’s initial summons to Locus-Walker, whereas the latter sections detail the advance of Dimensius and the fateful struggle for the world. Additionally, the novella features a range of characters, including Ky’veza, a raid antagonist from Nerub-ar Palace confronting players in WoW: The War Within Season 3.

This narrative is the fourth and likely concluding entry set to be included in the anthology World of Warcraft: Crossroads, set for release on November 11, alongside stories involving Thrall, Jaina, and Renzik “The Shiv.” Patch 11.2 will launch on August 5, followed by the Manaforge Omega raid on August 12. Make sure to enjoy this novella to fully dive into the upcoming content!
