On July 6, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet revealed another Seven-Star Tera Raid boss for trainers to face, as Kommo-o the Unrivaled will appear in Tera Raid dens throughout Paldea in mid-July. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will have two chances this month to confront and catch Kommo-o the Unrivaled.
Known as the Scaly Pokemon, Kommo-o is the pseudo-legendary creature from Pokemon Sun and Moon. It evolves from both Jangmo-o and Hakamo-o and is typically classified as a Dragon and Fighting dual-type. Kommo-o utilizes its scaly arms, tail, and neck to produce intimidating sounds against weaker Pokemon. In battles, it excels as a mixed attacker with notable physical defenses, utilizing moves like Clangorus Soul to enhance its stats alongside potent attacks such as Clanging Scales, Aura Sphere, and Earthquake. Kommo-o can be caught in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet by capturing a Jangmo-o in Kitakami and evolving it.
Following an Electric-type Mass Outbreak event, players will get another opportunity to add a pseudo-legendary to their teams. Per Serebii.net, Kommo-o the Unrivaled will enter Seven-Star Tera Raid dens starting Thursday, July 10, at 8:00 PM Eastern, concluding Sunday, July 13, at 7:59 PM Eastern. Trainers who miss the initial timeframe will have a second chance from July 17 to 20, during the same time slots. Kommo-o will possess a Fighting-type Tera type and reward the Mightiest Mark to trainers who overcome it.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Kommo-o Tera Raid Details (July 2025)
- Kommo-o the Unrivaled will show up in Seven-Star Tera Raid dens from July 10 to 13.
- Trainers who do not participate initially can try again from July 17 to 20.
- It will feature Fighting-type Tera, with moves such as Clanging Scales.
- Employing Fairy-type Pokemon to deal damage is advisable, especially removing Kommo-o’s ability.
In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Kommo-o’s key abilities include Soundproof, preventing sound-based attacks from affecting it, and Bulletproof, which halts damages from certain moves like Acid Spray and Aura Sphere. There is also a chance of it having the hidden ability Overcoat, protecting it from attack-related moves like Sandstorm. Successfully stripping Kommo-o’s abilities with moves such as Skill Swap and Worry Seed while counteracting its buffs from Clangorus Soul or Swords Dance will be essential.
Despite its formidable capabilities, Kommo-o is notably weak to Fairy and Flying attacks. Thus, using Fairy-type Pokemon like Flutter Mane, Sylveon, and Galarian Weezing may provide strategic advantages. Furthermore, the specifics of the moves Kommo-o uses and the counter-strategies that trainers develop will be eagerly anticipated.
