Popular YouTuber Ludwig is reportedly planning to host a tournament for a recently released game, organizing an Umamusume: Pretty Derby event in collaboration with fellow streamer Northernlion.
Throughout his career on platforms like YouTube and Twitch, Ludwig has made a name for himself by organizing large-scale events featuring numerous creators. One notable endeavor was his decision to buy a professional League of Legends team alongside the streamer Cr1tikal. Now, he is focusing his efforts on Umamusume: Pretty Derby.
Since its global launch in late June, Umamusume: Pretty Derby has gained significant traction among fans, highlighting the unique concept of anthropomorphic racehorses. Streamers such as Ludwig and Northernlion have shown great enthusiasm for the game, dedicating hours of gameplay on their streams post-launch.
Recently, Ludwig teased the planned tournament via a post on his official Twitter account. This post showcased his Discord conversations with Northernlion, detailing potential dates and times for the tournament scheduled for Tuesday, July 8, from 10 AM to 2 PM PST. In a light-hearted manner, Ludwig also made a special request to include the popular character Gold Ship during the competition.
Despite not sharing all the details regarding the tournament structure, it is suggested that the event could be a closed competitive affair alongside other high-profile creators, rather than an open tournament. Some fans have expressed concerns regarding the format, hinting that players with more experience in Umamusume may have an unfair edge.
Ludwig’s initiative to organize a tournament for Umamusume: Pretty Derby underscores the game’s soaring popularity following its release. It already enjoys a strong following in Japan, having been one of the highest-grossing mobile games since its launch in early 2021. With Ludwig’s tournament, the game aims to further enhance its global presence and attract even more attention.
