A Gamer's Nintendo 3DS Case Turns to Dust After Years of Storage
An unexpected incident revealed the surprising fragility of some gaming accessories as a sealed 3DS case disintegrated into dust after years of being kept sealed.
A gamer shared a surprising story regarding their Nintendo 3DS case, which was stored in its original box. Much to their dismay, the case had disintegrated into dust over time, despite being sealed.
While Nintendo products are known for their durability, enthusiasts often preferred to use cases for added protection. This unfortunate discovery raises concerns for other owners about the integrity of their 3DS cases.
The owner, Randolph Co, reported the incident through NintendoSoup, showcasing a Dragon Quest 8 themed case that disintegrated. Although the outer packaging remained intact, the inside was filled with crumbs. The original vibrant design faded into obscurity.
Experts suggest that the material used in these cases, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), is biodegradable. Originally released in 2015, it is understandable that the material’s lifespan has reached its limit, breaking down as expected.
Fans and collectors are urged to inspect their gaming accessories to ensure they remain intact and preserved.
