Helldivers 2 Delivers Disappointing Update for Xbox Gamers
Arrowhead Game Studios announces that Helldivers 2 will not be included on Xbox Game Pass, raising concerns among subscribers eager for the game.
Arrowhead Game Studios, the developer behind the popular co-op shooter Helldivers 2, has confirmed that the game will not be available on Xbox Game Pass. This announcement follows the major news that Helldivers 2 will launch on the Xbox Series X/S platform in August 2025, more than a year after its release on PlayStation 5 and PC.
Helldivers 2 is viewed as one of the standout successes of 2024. Initially exclusive to PS5 and PC, it captured the interest of fans looking for collaborative gaming experiences, achieving the title of the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios release to date. Even amidst challenges like review-bombing, the game’s player community remains robust, and with the upcoming Xbox release, many more players will have the chance to join the fight against extraterrestrial foes.
Unfortunately for Xbox fans, Arrowhead Community Manager Baskinator confirmed on the Helldivers 2 official Discord server that there are no plans to bring the game to Game Pass. Baskinator responded to a user claiming Helldivers 2 would be added to the service with a definitive “Definitely not. No plans to bring it to Game Pass.” This means Xbox Series X/S players interested in experiencing Helldivers 2 will need to purchase the game separately.
While this update may disappoint current Xbox Game Pass subscribers, it reflects an overall trend of changing subscription services in the gaming industry. Analysts have recently expressed skepticism about the future of subscription models like Xbox Game Pass, suggesting they might not be as pivotal in the industry as previously thought.
