Hideo Kojima's Upcoming Game Remains Secure Amid Xbox Layoffs

Despite recent layoffs at Xbox affecting numerous games, Kojima's 'OD' is reportedly safe for now.

The forthcoming horror title, OD, from Hideo Kojima’s studio is reportedly in active development, unaffected by the recent workforce reductions at Xbox. Originally unveiled in 2023, this collaboration with Xbox has drawn significant attention, especially with the backdrop of extensive job cuts affecting around 9,000 employees at Microsoft.

These layoffs have halted a number of ongoing projects, sparking concerns among gaming enthusiasts about the future of various titles, including the axed Perfect Dark reboot and others.

Fortunately, a report from Windows Central reassures that OD’s development remains stable despite the surrounding chaos. Jez Corden mentioned that there have been no adverse effects on the game’s progress, alleviating worries from Kojima’s fanbase, particularly those eager for a fresh horror experience since the cancellation of Silent Hill by Konami.

Kojima is also working on another title, Physint, yet specifics on release dates for either project remain unclear. As anticipation builds, fans are left speculating about the potential reception of these upcoming titles.
