Developers of Dead by Daylight Respond to Bloodpoints Concerns

The team behind Dead by Daylight addresses player complaints about decreased bloodpoints during gameplay.

Following reports that players of Dead by Daylight are earning fewer bloodpoints recently, a member of the development team responded to these claims. During special events, such as the Twisted Masquerade, players can receive an anniversary cake, which grants additional bloodpoints during matches. Historically, these cakes were found up to 2-3 times per match, but players have noted their reduced frequency after a recent update.

The discontent among the players regarding this change is evident, yet Dead by Daylight continues to set player records, suggesting that not everyone is deterred by this alteration. The game’s success can also be credited to its numerous crossovers with popular franchises like Stranger Things, Silent Hill, and Five Nights at Freddy’s, allowing fans to enjoy different aspects of the game simultaneously.

After deploying the 9.0.2 Bugfix Patch, a developer confirmed that the cakes are appearing as intended, indicating a fundamental shift in their function. This news shocked many fans who were initially hopeful for a bug fix rather than a restructured gameplay mechanic.

However, this is not the first alteration by the developers regarding gameplay dynamics or perk acquisition methods.

“It seems that Behaviour Interactive plans to maintain a challenging environment for acquiring bloodpoints in Dead by Daylight and does not see it as an issue. While numerous fans have reacted negatively to the change, it remains uncertain whether this will trigger a significant backlash.”
