Hideo Kojima's Mysterious OD Seems Safe After Microsoft's Recent Layoffs

Despite Microsoft's recent layoffs and game cancellations, Hideo Kojima's upcoming project, OD, reportedly remains safe for now.

Microsoft recently laid off 9,000 employees, leading to the cancellation of several projects including the game Everwild, the Perfect Dark reboot, and an unannounced MMO from ZeniMax Online Studios. Amid these cuts, OD, a new project from Hideo Kojima supported by Xbox Studios, appears to be safe. Kojima originally described it as a game that is also a movie and a new form of media. The teaser featured actors Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier. You can watch the teaser here.

As Kojima continues working on his other project, Death Stranding 2, speculation surrounds whether OD may have faded into the background amid Microsoft’s restructuring spree. Reports suggest that, for now, it remains a live project, but the future is uncertain given the current climate of corporate consolidation in the gaming industry.
